Codes of Ethics

NAEYC Code of Ethical Conduct:

I-1.10 - To ensure that each child's culture, language, ethnicity, and family structure are recognized and valued in the program.

*Exposing children to different cultures makes learning fun and a definite must in my classroom.  Children need to learn to value differences in others and be proud of their origin.  Exposing children to different cultures can be accomplished in a variety of ways.  Multiculturalism is a classroom can be achieved through books, music, games, planned activities, artifacts, and family participation.

I-2.2 - To welcome all family members and encourage them to participate in the program.

*It is important to me that families are a part of their child's education.  Partnerships are proven to be the key to success.  Families can get involved in a variety of ways:  daily communication, setting clear expectations, parent-teacher conferences, volunteering, and many more.  There are endless opportunities for parents to get involved, but it is our job as educators to invite them into our classroom and encourage better participation.

DEC Code of Ethics:

Enhancement of Children' and Families' Quality of Lives:  4. We shall advocate for equal access to high quality services and supports for all children and families to enhance their quality of lives.

*I believe that all children should have access to high quality care.  Licensed providers have to meet health, safety and teacher qualification standards that are enforced by the government.  This standards help ensure quality in classrooms. Families should have equal, affordable access to education as well as other support.
